Mid-January target date

Barrel tiles have been placed on the roof to allow the framing to settle before sheet rock is installed. Plumbing and electrical were inspected, and we had a frame walk through with the superintendent to see their progress. Projected date of completion: mid-January. We'll have a firmer date in about a week.

Halloween

Alejandro went trick-or-treating at Nana and Papa Joe's and our neighbor's house. He loved his Nemo costume. When he walked, the tail moved back and forth like a fish swimming in water. It was so cute.

it's really happening!

For those of you that haven't heard, they started building our house. Check it out. We'll post every step of the way. First picture is the beginning foundation.

We met with the superintendent yesterday to go over the plans and our upgrades. We may even get to move in just before Christmas. Time will tell...

Hello Again!

Well, if you haven't noticed, it's been a while. That's right, school started. And on top of that I am now in charge of After-school Care this year, which is in my classroom Monday-Thursday until 6:00 and Friday until 5:15.

We did manage to get away for Labor Day weekend. We spent some time in Angel Fire and Chama. It was so peaceful and relaxing.

We went horseback riding. The first time, it was about to storm, so we didn't go. But, they let Alejandro ride around the corral. He was so thrilled to be on a horsie.

We went on an hour and a half ride. My horse had an attitude and bad gas. Maybe that explains the attitude. Marcelo and Alejandro's horse was really calm. The forest in this area of New Mexico is really beautiful.

In Chama, there was so much wildlife in the area around our friend's cabin. Marcelo even fed some deer carrots out of his hand!

Our Dream Home- FOR REAL!

This is our floor plan of the house we are going to have built. It's so sweet, I can't even describe how excited we are.

Here are some pictures of the model home with this floor plan:

This is the outside. This is the flat tile elevation, but we are going to get the barrel tile elevation. I don't believe we'll plant the palm tree in the middle of the driveway.

That's right- this is TRULY a 2 car garage!

Count them- two sinks. Also, not pictured- our walk-in closet. It's like half the size of the room we live in now.

This is the kitchen.

Having a great summer!

Alejandro and I have been having so much fun hanging out this summer. We go on walks to the park, eat together, play with cars and trains, and whatever else we feel like doing! This week we all started swim lessons. Marcelo usually bikes to the pool from work and meets us there in the evenings. It's a parent-toddler class, so we can all get in the pool together. AJ loves the "agua" so much. He's like a fish. He's learned to kick his feet and paddle his arms at the same time, go under water, splash, float on his back (with help), and blow bubbles. The other parents in the class thought that we must have a pool at home because he's not afraid and has so much fun. Next week, I'll try to bring our camera so we can post a picture of our swim pro.

Not our dream home!

You all have now seen the pictures of the house we put a bid on....
Well, after the inspection, there were some things we were not too happy about-it needs a new roof, it needs a new swamp cooler, some of the outlets were not grounded, the vent from the washer was not in code, there was not a return on the washer, AND because of the placement of the washer and dryer, it was just a one car garage. Long story short, we are getting out of there.

We are considering building a new home. More news to come.

Zoo Fun

Yesterday we went to the Albuquerque Zoo. We bought a Biopark pass, so we can go to the zoo, aquarium, and botanic gardens as much as we want all year. We took AJ to the zoo last summer, but we think he had a lot more fun this year.

Here's Alejandro and Marcelo checking out the sea lions.

Look at the bears!

After such a fun time at the zoo, it was time to go home to take a nap.

AJ Update

Here's a more recent picture of Alejandro. I think it was taken 1 or 2 months ago. He loves playing with water. We're having a great summer so far. It's nice being off and staying home with him again.

New Home!

We are soon going to be home owners. We put a bid on a house not too far from where we are now and we are so excited (and scared)!
We started looking at houses a while ago, but our official search with a realtor (my cousin) began last weekend. Saturday 8 houses, Monday 6 houses... There were two that we liked, but were under contract before we got a chance to bid.
On Tuesday my cousin found one more. We took a look that day and loved it, put a bid in that night. One counter offer and a few signatures later, it's official!!!
This is the master bedroom!
