6:30 p.m. (yesterday)
Alejandro received a visit from Todd and Kelly, my church choir director and his wife. He opened his card shortly after eating dinner and he loved it.

My cupcake

2:40 p.m. (yesterday)
Alejandro eats his birthday cupcakes with his daycare buddies. He must have done well, because he wasn’t dirty when he came home last night.

Every party has a pooper . . .

11:15 a.m.
We had brought cupcakes to the daycare this morning, because we were planning on having a little party with his friends around 11:15 a.m. I picked up Leticia and we headed over to the daycare, anxious to see him eat his birthday cupcake. Unfortunately, we found him sleeping by himself while the others ate lunch.

Monkey in the morning

7:15 a.m.
This morning around 7:15 a.m., the little man was giving his mommy one last hug before we left for work.

Happy Birthday Alejandro!

A year ago today, Alejandro Jose Gomez entered our lives at 7:11 p.m. The little man weighed 9 pounds and has become the center of our lives. The blog entries above are a sequence of today’s events. Enjoy!

Taking Over

This is Alejandro taking over our newly carpeted living room. The house is just so much more fun with no furniture and just toys.

Little Man

Usually when I drop off Alejandro at daycare, I have to hand him over to the teacher he likes and she carries him around for a while and distracts him as I leave. Well, yesterday, I put him down and he was standing, he just took off- walking. He walked over to a group of toddlers who were playing with some toys and sat with them and started talking away. The teacher said to wave by-bye to Mommy and he did. I was so proud.
When I pick him up to go home, he extends his hand out to each teacher to shake their hands. They say he is "just like a little man."

What did you say?

Last night, I (Marcelo) was speaking with my mother while Alejandro was eating dinner. I decided to put the cell up to AJ, so my mother could talk to him. He responded a little, but the best part was the facial expressions he would get when he heard Grandma Gomez’s voice.

Loving Bath Time

Alejandro can't get enough of the bathtub. I remember when he was a few months old, and he would scream bloody murder when his body hit the water. The earpiercing screams have been replaced with laughter accompanied with heavy splashing.

Here he is playing with his bubbles. On another note, he started saying "Love you".
